What are Bunions?

Bunions are often presented as bumps on the side or top of the big toe joint. Bunions form when the big toe angles towards the 2nd toe and this effectively causes the bump or deformity on the side of the big toe.

Bunions can be quite painful and can cause discomfort however sometimes there is no pain associated with having bunions.

How can a Podiatrist help?

Bunions can be diagnosed by a Podiatrist and they can help assist with advice on footwear, correction of biomechanics problems, joint mobilisations to relieve pain and improve movement. Shaving calluses that often build up around a bunion can help reduce pain.
